STANLEY
CASSELMAN

b. 1963 | New York

Stanley Casselman (b. 1963) is a New York–based artist recognized for pioneering silkscreen painting, a medium he began exploring in the early 1980s. By manipulating pigment—often from the reverse side of the screen—he captures hidden, energetic imagery typically unseen in traditional painting. His process, both baroque and calculated, layers color, line, and gesture to evoke emotion and explore higher states of consciousness. Casselman studied at Pitzer College, and his work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Gazelli Art House. His paintings are held in major collections such as the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation, and Borusan Contemporary in Istanbul.
